This month we talked about the idea of Force Multipliers and the benefits of sleep, the importance of nutrition, and the value of exercise.
The final boulder on the hill of Line of Effort -1 is general health. Go to the doctor and dentist regularly. Wear sunscreen, don’t smoke, have safe sex, etc. I won’t belabor this one.
Instead, I want to dig into how sleep, diet, and exercise act as force multipliers, and how you can leverage these three little things to start making lasting changes in your life.
If we get LOE-1 right, or at least get it right most of the time, we have the ability to reduce our all-cause mortality risk by 50% or more.
That’s significant.
Why then do so many of us not prioritize LOE-1?
I’ll tell you. Time.
We don’t have the time, or we think we don’t have the time.
I won’t state the obvious fact that prioritizing LOE - 1 will almost certainly give us more time, or at least more useful time tacked onto our lives (Ok, I guess I did state the obvious).
It’s not that we don’t know the criticality of LOE-1, we just defer it until someday.
We prioritize LOE -4 Purpose, LOE -5 Relationships, and LOE -6 Responsibilities over our health.
LOE 4, 5, & 6 are also super important, but we’ll never be our best at them until we fix 1, 2, & 3.
I know you’re saying, “But how do I find the time?”
Short answer, “You don’t.”
You’ll never find it. You have to make it.
And that’s what I will show you how to do.
