This month we have been fighting the insurgency.
The loosely aligned collection of insurgents and terrorists that attack when you are trying to achieve a goal and prevent you from reaching your full potential.
Last week we discussed the fact that when we look closely at the shadowy surveillance images on our targeting board, we’ll discover that we are our own worst enemy.
On one hand that can be disconcerting, but on the other it is a blessing because once we know that we are the enemy we can take action.
And just like an insurgent network is made up of distributed cells often operating with a high degree of autonomy, the cells we are fighting have to be dismantled target by target.
We won’t fight one decisive battle to gain victory over ourselves. This is a long war that once joined will probably never end, but it is a fight that gets harder each day you avoid it.
